The Appomattox County Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department provides a variety of quality recreational programs & leisure activities for Appomattox County residents along with providing management of parks, recreation areas & civic facilities.

The goal of the Department of Parks & Recreation is to promote public awareness & support for recreation, park & leisure services.  The department strives to develop facilities & recreational programs to ensure the citizens of Appomattox county are provided with leisure opportunities through a variety of programs, facilities & open spaces designed to improve their social, mental & physical  health in a safe & clean environment.

The Appomattox County Parks & Recreation Department currently manages six sites:

  • Appomattox County Community Center

  • Appomattox County Ball Park

  • Appomattox County Community Park

  • Oakville Ruritan Building

  • Old Appomattox Elementary School Gym

The department also works closely with youth sport groups like The Appomattox Youth Sports Association & The Appomattox Soccer Association to facilitate the scheduling of fields, gymnasiums & facilities for youth sport programs.
