The goal of the Appomattox County Waste Management & Recycle Facility is to provide a clean and convenient place for the citizens of Appomattox to dispose of their waste. There are seven convenience centers located in Appomattox County including the Waste Management & Recycle Facility:
* Evergreen, Railroad Lane (Rt. 620 & 622)
* Promiseland, Link Road (Rt. 604)
* Spout Spring, Reedy Spring Road (Rt. 648)
* Stonewall, Stonewall Road (Rt. 608)
* Oakville, Oakville Road (Rt. 26)
* Vera, Wildway Road (Rt. 616)
Convenience Centers hours of operation:
March thru October:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday -- 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Sunday -- 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
CLOSED WEDNESDAYS
November thru February:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday -- 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday -- 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All Convenience center sites are closed on New Years Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day
Services provided to Appomattox County residents and businesses:
The convenience centers accept small loads of waste from Appomattox County residents and businesses. Residents should be prepared to show proof of residency to the site attendants. All site attendants are available to assist residents with the proper disposal of waste and recyclables.
All sites are designed to accept unlimited household waste which is compacted at the location. Recyclable containers are provided at each site for the following materials:
* Cardboard
* Mixed paper
* Plastic #1 & plastic #2
* Wood (unpainted) including pallets
* Mixed metals including air conditioners, appliances & lawn mowers
* Aluminum
* Batteries
* Bulk items, such as, painted wood, furniture, etc.
* Electronics, computers and all accessories
* Textiles, clothes, curtains, sheets, towels and other clothing items that are clean
* Grocery bags, (Food Lion/Kroger type)
* Cell phones for Soldiers Program
The following items may be mixed together with household waste:
* Floor coverings
* Glass
* Insulation
* Sheetrock
* Shingles
* Miscellaneous items that are not considered to be recycled.
County residents are allowed to bring the following to the Waste Management & Recycle Facility located at 146 Recycle Lane, off of Morning Star Road:
* Eight tires a fiscal year, (July 1st thru June 30th)
* Antifreeze & oil (5 gallon limit) per visit
* Brush
* Oil filters
* Rubble
Mulch is also provided at the Waste Management & Recycle Facility, when available, free to residents, Monday thru Friday only. Please call for an appointment.
Services we do not provide:

Important Requirements:
All loads are required to be separated. (See waste separation policy)
All drums have to be triple rinsed, cut in half lengthwise or open on both ends.
We do not accept:
* Tree Stumps. Call Cottontown Environmental Processors, LLC in Lynchburg at 434-847-5000.
* Contaminated soil classified as hazardous waste.
* Drums that are not cleaned and open on both ends.
* Dioxins, PCB’s, or free liquids.
* Oil other than to be recycled oil.
* Pesticide containers that have not been triple rinsed.
* Pressurized fuel tanks or containers.
* Regulated hazardous waste.
* Sewage and sludge.
