BOARD OF EQUALIZATION – Hears citizens appeals from Board of Assessors due to reassessment. Serves for a three month period every six years. Meets when needed.
BOARD OF ROAD VIEWERS – Advises VDOT on road systems and maintenance by going out and viewing roads. Meets only once a year. Serves for one year.
BUILDING CODE BOARD OF APPEALS – Hears appeals of decisions by building official to determine proper code interpretation. Serve four year terms.
CENTRAL VIRGINIA AREA AGENCY ON AGING – Provides assistance in the operation of many programs for area senior citizens. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month. Serve three year terms.
CENTRAL VIRGINIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE LOCAL ADVISORY BOARD – Functions as an advisory board for the people in the college’s service area with the State Board of Community Colleges, the Virginia Community College System Administration and the College Administration. Meetings are held every three months at 4:30 p.m. at the Community College. Serve four year terms.
CENTRAL VIRGINIA COMMUNITY SERVICES BOARD – Local Board responsible for mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse services in the community. Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month. Serve three year terms.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY – Assists in promoting industry and developing trade in the area through financial assistance to new and existing industries. Meetings are held the 4th Monday of each month. Serve four year terms.
LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES – Provides oversight in the operation and development of the Library system. Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Library Meeting Room. Serve four year terms.
PLANNING COMMISSION – Acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors in planning development of the County (subdivisions, re-zonings, parks, etc.). Meetings are held the third Monday of each month. Serve four year terms.
REGIONAL DISABILITY SERVICES BOARD – Coordinates efforts between state and local disability organizations; established by state law. Meets once every two months. Serve two year terms.
SOCIAL SERVICES BOARD – Monitors the formulation and implementation of social welfare programs and makes recommendations on policy matters concerning the Social Services Department. Meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Serve four year terms.
BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS – Hears appeals of decision by Zoning Administrator and considers requests for variances from code regulations. Meets 3rd Thursday of month, when needed. Serve four year terms.
