Most of the available acreage is privately-held, but the Economic Development Authority owns and operates the Appomattox Center for Business and Commerce, a 485-acre mixed use park complete with public water and sewer. The Appomattox Center also serves as a major hub for Mid-Atlantic Broadband, one of the most advanced fiber networks in the world.

As a largely rural county located within a short drive of the City of Lynchburg—a major shopping, dining, finance, educational, and entertainment center—Appomattox is poised to become one of the fastest growing areas of Central Virginia.
