Due to the mid-Atlantic location of the County, Appomattox offers a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. From the dogwood and laurel blooms of spring to the beautiful fall colors of hardwood forests, Appomattox can be enjoyed year round. Winters are normally mild, reducing heating costs while providing for the safer transport of goods and materials. Also, the amount of employee and educational time lost due to inclement weather is much lower than in northern regions of the country.
